Sophie has loved music her entire life. It is that very love which brought her to Queens all the way from Washington to study Music Education at the Aaron Copland School of Music in Queens NY. Her instruments of choice are Guitar, Piano and Vocals, all of which she teaches with bright energy and enthusiasm.
Sophie teaches because she believes in sharing the gift of music with everyone. Her greatest goal is to nurture the joy of music in her students. To that end, her lessons are lively and animated to ensure that the fun is never lost in the learning. She also puts emphasis on music as a form of self expression. Her lessons follow the natural progression of each student, allowing them a sense of freedom which encourages them to bring their inner selves to the music. She often incorporates ear training and music theory as tools to further her students’ ability to express themselves and makes sure to stretch their creative muscles as well.
In her class, enjoying yourself and making music are at the center of everything. She inspires confidence in her students and an appreciation for the craft. For her, teaching music isn’t just about helping students as growing musicians, it’s also about helping them harness their inner world and communicate as growing people.
